Following a review of the published documents, we are in the process of identifying and contacting the specific customers that this data relates to, in order to support them as this situation progresses.
In consideration of our other customers, we are mindful of the potential notification and reporting obligations that may arise as our investigation continues. Our team continues to work with external cyber experts to determine the extent and impact of the incident, including the ownership of the personal information that has been released.
We are taking appropriate steps in response to this development including updating the Australian National Office of Cyber Security (NOCS) and other relevant agencies, as well as notifying the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner (OPC).
Given the criminal nature of this incident, we have briefed the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and will continue to support their investigations.

Significant progress has been made toward restoration of the hosted VETtrak environment. We are pleased to confirm that data relating to the VETtrak core platform has been successfully restored and verified.
As we progress the restoration of the system, a phased approach to restoring functionality and customer access is required to ensure both the security and stability of the restored platform. Our team will be in contact with you as we become ready to reestablish your access to the platform. We will share specific steps required with each customer as the restoration is rolled out. We deeply appreciate your patience and collaboration as we work through this process.
To support customers with planning, it is important that we advise that the full restoration may continue into next week, and capabilities like enrolments (VETenrol) and portals may only become available then. Our team continue to provide interim solutions for enrolments and certificates for customers where this is required.
Additionally, we recognise the reporting and compliance obligations our customers have with various Government agencies and regulators. While ultimately the decision rests with each relevant agency, ReadyTech is advocating for leniency on these deadlines. We are working with the Australian National Office of Cyber Security (NOCS) to coordinate discussions with relevant agencies and regulators with our next meeting being held this afternoon, Friday 24 October.
While we undertake this restoration, the investigation into the cyber incident remains ongoing and further updates will be provided as soon as they are available. The security and privacy of our customer’s data remains our highest priority and it is critical that this continues to guide our response efforts.
We will share our next update on the phased access restoration at 1:00pm (AEDT) on Monday, 27 October, unless there are any notable developments to share earlier.
